School of Life
“School of life” discernment year:

What does the Lord expect from me? What is my vocation? Family? Priesthood? Consecrated life?

For many years now, the Community of the Beatitudes has been offering here in Denver, CO a
"School of Life" discernment year.

It is designed for young adults (20 to 30 years old) who desire:
•    to give one year to the Lord
•    and to discern their call (marriage, religious vocation, ??).

The School of Life student will be sharing our life, our prayer and our work.

The formation has 3 aspects:

1 - Spiritual: community prayer, daily mass, daily holy hour, daily lectio divina, daily rosary.
2 - Human: sharing our daily community life and tasks (services, parish work, etc...)
3 - Intellectual: 4 hours of teaching per week (Catholic faith, Christology, Trinity,
anthropology, vocation discernment, prayer life, Bible, Theology of the Body...)

+ Spiritual help to discern your vocation (spiritual guidance).

This past year, a typical weekly schedule was:

- 7 am  Morning prayer
- 7:30   Rosary
- 8:00  Mass
- Breakfast
- 9:15  to 11:15   Holy hour, lectio, personal study
- 11:15 to 12:15:  Class
- 12:30  Lunch
- 2:00 pm: Work and service in the parish or at the Community
- 5:30  Vespers
- 6:00  Dinner
- 7:00  Evening activities (formation, prayer, free time…)

The year starts on October 1st (you must be there few days before) until June.

This past year, we had 5 students.

The cost is $500/month (includes formation, room & board), but you need your own health insurance.
(note: the price is twice lower than other retreat centers since you will be asked for 3.5 hours work in the parish
or at the Community, each afternoon).

If you are interested, please sent us a letter (or email) of motivation, presenting yourself
